Hal Peller, Senior Associate

In 1985, Hal Peller founded Pro-Peller Construction, a company recognized for excellence in the restoration of historic and landmark properties such as the Ellis Island Museum, the Smithsonian Institute’s Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Central Park Conservancy’s Swedish Cottage and Prospect Park’s Leffert’s Homestead Children’s Museum. Based in New York, Pro-Peller Construction has been referred by the highly regarded trade publications Old House Journal, Traditional Building and The New York Landmark Conservancy Restoration Directory, as well as in Architectural Digest, Victoria Magazine.

Hal served as a consultant to The Nat ional Historic Landmark, the State Capitol of New Jersey Restoration Project, and UGL Industries, manufacturers of wood finishing products.

A nationally recognized facilitator of Viola Spolin’s improvisation techniques since 1981, Hal has developed and conducted workshops such as “Theater Games for Non-Actors,” “Staff Development for Teachers”, and “Improv for Corporate Managers.” He developed a team building workshop based on Patrick Lencioni’s "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team” and has worked with Fortune 500 companies GE Financial Services and Insight Solutions for Business.

Currently a member of Toastmasters International, Hal has served on the Boards of The Women’s Resource Center of New York and the Broadway Theater Institute. He has also been a select member of the New York Landmark Conservancy since 1988.

Hal enjoys volunteering his time to introduce improv to local public schools and has recently become interested in the benefits of improv training for learning disabled children. Residing in Brooklyn, New York , with his wife, Janet, and their two sons, he enjoys skiing, softball, racquetball, and laughing.

Interesting Facts:

Favorite Place: Pawley’s Island, South Carolina. A group of friends rented the 18 th Century Pawley House on the beach every year since 1970, and he was married there in 1981. The house was wiped out by Hurricane Hugo.
Likes: He really likes it when a plan comes together
Random Fact: At age 16 he changed the thermostat in a 1954 Volvo. When finished, every screw and bolt thread was stripped, but the fix was done.
Favorite Tool: With his needle nose pliers and multi-tip screw driver, he claims he can pretty much fix anything.
